About Us
Davidson County Community Action, Inc. was established from the Economic Opportunity Act of 1964. President Lyndon B. Johnson signed the Act into law. Though the War on Poverty has had an impact on many lives in our county, there remains much to be done. According to the US Census Bureau our population has grown from 151,238 to 163,420 in 2013. The number of people in poverty is estimated at 14.5%: nearly 24,000 individuals who fall below the federal poverty guide.
We have the organizational capacity to carry out local, state, and federal policies and programs. Our fifteen member board ensures input in program guidance from all segments of the county. Fiscal integrity is a top priority and we have earned the confidence of our funding sources. Our work programs are carried out by highly trained and motivated staff members.
Positive accomplishments have been achieved as reflected in meeting the needs of low and moderate income citizens. DCCA, Inc. will continue to strive to keep collaborative efforts and relationships with our community and our partners, seeking resources to move low-income citizens towards self sufficiency.
